What does Jesus think about today’s world?

In the Word of God, our Bible, Jesus tells us, “I have told you these things, so that you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble, but take heart, I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)

This morning, I woke to hear reports of a troubled world. There is nothing new in this. Most of us have known times of trouble; sickness, grief, broken relationships, financial problems are all part of life. Today we see a spirit of division spreading across the land.

In the Book of Matthew, chapter 24, Jesus told his disciples about the troubles that would come to this world. Since He knew all this, why are we controlled by fear?

During a storm, the disciples cried out to him, “Teacher, don’t you care that we’re going to die?” And he arose and rebuked the wind, and said, “Peace be still!” And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.” (Mark 4:38-39)
