“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
(2 Corinthians 12:9)
As a nurse, it has been my life’s calling to care for others.
When the Lord calls, or should I say, gives you a calling, there’s no turning back.
I once tried to explain it by saying, “You can’t NOT DO IT!”
So, what do we do when the world says, “You’re old! You can’t take care of others. It’s time to sit down and let someone else take over”?
My pastor once preached a sermon, entitled: “But God…”
That is the marvelous truth of our relationship with the Father; “But God” means He is the answer for all our needs:
“Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever.”(Ephesians 3:20)
I have often prayed this verse of scripture over people who felt overwhelmed.
It’s good to take time to concentrate of God’s promises for myself, for my family, for this present time.
My marine husband, MSgt. Rodney Dotson was born to be a leader of men. He always felt the need to be in charge of every challenge. This too, can be a calling from the Lord. So, what does a “leader of men” do when he becomes too weak to carry on?
Some people become bitter, or angry at the circumstances. Some become angry with God. How sad that they don’t accept His grace. For my husband, thankfully, it has been a time of humility. And that is not a bad thing!
When we humble ourselves before God, we find His divine strength. We find healing. We find hope. We find the promise of eternal life, through Jesus Christ. Amen.
